DIY Fixes Before Calling a Sliding Door Expert

🛑 Before You Spend Money — Try These First
If your door is sticking, scraping, or hard to open — don’t panic. You may be able to fix it yourself with a few tools and 30 minutes.
Here are the 3 most common DIY fixes for sliding glass door issues.
🔧 1. Clean the Track Thoroughly
Vacuum dirt and debris
Scrub with soap and a toothbrush
Dry fully
Apply silicone spray (not WD-40!)
🛑 Still sticky? The problem may be inside the rollers.
🔧 2. Tighten the Adjustment Screws
Look at the bottom corners of the door. You’ll find a hole with a small screw that adjusts roller height.
Turn right to lift door
Turn left to lower
This helps with dragging or uneven sliding.
🔧 3. Realign the Door
If the frame is slightly shifted, the lock won’t line up. Lift the door slightly while adjusting the rollers — this may bring it back into position.
